Ka-PC Christopher de Leon shares gifts to Maranao families
Smiles greeted Personal Collection and PC BrO Christopher de Leon as they visited a resettlement community in Barangay Bito Buadi Itowa in Marawi City for the PC Gift Giving program.
Tagging along his wife Sandy and daughter Mariel, Boyet shared to some 700 Maranao families PC loot bags, which contained Check Antibacterial Soap, Alert Toothpaste, clothes, food, school supplies, toiletries, and other basic necessities, to help them get back on track after the five-month siege.
“Even though the war is over in Marawi, there is still a lot to be done. They need clothes, basic supplies, underwear, shoes, and slippers,” said Binibining Pilipinas-International 2017 Mariel de Leon. “The war may be over but the Maranao people’s struggle to bring normality back into their lives continues.”
Barangay Bito Buadi Itowa is home to hundreds of families that escaped the armed conflict between the Philippine armed forces and the extremist Maute group. The battle left the deeply cultural city in ruins and thousands of Maranao families internally displaced.
Now a few months after the liberation of Marawi, donations have since dwindled down, posing yet another challenge to the affected families. With Great Love for Family ingrained in PC’s identity, the direct selling giant saw it fitting to revive the spirit of malasakit as the Maranao families continue to rebuild their lives.
